Gold Mine / Mina de Oro
This piece is based on a dream. In this dream I was in some sort of academy-awards performance theater, sitting high up in the balcony. It was dark and I was there observing what was going on on-stage when all of a sudden Madonna came and sat by me with her entourage. I remember thinking that I shouldn't speak to her and just leave her alone, when all of a sudden I noticed her looking at me. I in turn looked at her, and without saying a word, we began to engage in a passionate, sexual experience. The painting actually represents the point of orgasm.
You ask yourself, what does Gold Mine have to do with it? Well, within the dream I was dreaming of entering a mine that had its walls lined with gold. I interpreted that to be a metaphor for what was going on in the original dream. This is the first and only time I can remember having a dream within a dream, or what I called a split dream.
